Do you want to travel but you are not sure if you can go by yourself? The thought of traveling alone is unbearable for some and I was one of them for the longest time. However, one day, I just went and booked a flight to Asia. Nothing’s going to happen if I don’t take action so I just did it.
As the day approached, I was anxious and nervous. I even wanted to cancel the flight but thankfully, I did not because it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. After that, I constantly wonder and laugh at myself for not wanting to travel alone. I wish I did it sooner.
Traveling alone has many benefits and it will help you grow as a person. If you are having doubts about being a lone traveler, I would say that you should try it out but as a first step, you should go to a place that is safe for tourists as safety will allow you to be comfortable even if you don’t know anyone.
Here are some benefits of traveling alone.
You will meet other people more often
Yes, if you travel alone or with someone or in a group, meeting people is inevitable but it is more likely and more frequently when you are in your lonesome. This is because you will be easier to approach and the other party will not think that they are intruding since you are not with someone.
This can be a good thing because socialising is always good and you will learn something new everytime. Just be aware and prioritize safety, don’t let your guard down just because someone approached you nicely.
You control everything
Total control over what you want to do, where to go, where to eat, when to sleep and just about anything you can think of is bliss. You can spend the whole day however you want and no one will be able to stop you. If you are traveling with someone, you need to make plans together and you have to agree on just about anything before anything gets done and this can be a buzzkill.
You will less likely be stressed
Traveling with someone or in a group can be stressful if not all of you are on the same page. If someone oversleeps, the whole day will have to be adjusted or if someone gets sick, you will have to attend to them while they are incapacitated.
If you are alone, you will not have to account for someone else and this can lead to a stress free time.
Your wallet will thank you
Traveling alone will cost you less than if you were to bring someone else with you. You will be able to spend less on transportation, accommodations, meals and pretty much anything else. All of these expenses can add up fast if you are paying for two and if you are alone, you can use the savings to enjoy your getaway.
You will get to know yourself better
When we are at home, in our comfort zone, we rarely get to have some serious time to ourselves. There are so many distractions that we can indulge in that we rarely get to know our true selves. When you are in a foreign land and you don’t know anyone who you can depend on, you are left to depend on yourself.
You will get to know yourself much better on how you cope in different situations.
Traveling alone is something that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime. It’s a great experience that will be something that you will cherish for the entirety of your life.
